Gache Gache Lodge
Gache Gache Lodge is situated in the Eastern Basin of Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe, on the banks of the Gache Gache River. All ten chalets accommodate guests in a private & intimate way, overlooking the tranquil river. The chalets are rustic in style, each with en-suite facilities & their own verandah that allows you to share in the pleasure of seeing and hearing various wildlife from the comfort of your room. All chalets have fans and two rooms have air-conditioning. The main lodge has a lounge and bar area as well as a large dining area with attractive teak furnishings. Relax and enjoy the breath taking views and Kariba sunsets. Our splash pool allows you to cool off in the summer months. Ask our new pro-guide, Mark van Zuydam to take you on a game drive either by boat or by vehicle where you can get up close and personal with hippo, crocodile, elephant & buffalo. Our wildlife area also has eland, impala, waterbuck, bushbuck and lots more animals roaming freely in the African bush. You can't leave without trying your hand at fishing for our fighting Tiger Fish or wonderful mouth-watering tasting Tilapia (Bream) that our Chef will prepare for you personally. Game walks at certain times of the year are also allowed... and don't forget your binoculars as the birdlife is also amazing!
Chikwenya Safari Lodge
The Wilderness Safaris Group recently took over management of the beautiful Chikwenya tented camp in the Mana Pools National Park. The camp has undergone an extensive facelift which has seen many improvements to the design, functionality and upgrades to the rooms and guest facilities. Chikwenya is a stunning camp located in a private concession to the east of the park overlooking a floodplain. Chikwenya is an eco-tourism venture which is premised upon giving visitors an authentic wilderness experience in a comfortable environment. Many of the décor features at Chikwenya are locally crafted using local resources and they demonstrate impeccable artistry and every detail is made to blend with the natural beauty of the region. The camp is surrounded by ancient Albida trees and accommodation comprises 7 luxury tents, including a family tent. The en-suite rooms have bath and basin, Queen-size beds and a small patio. Guest amenities include a Bar, swimming pool and cosy sun loungers which look out onto the river, a fire pit where guests can marvel at starry nights or sit back with their beverage of choice after eventful afternoons. The Mana Pools area is well known for its biodiversity and as a result, it offers guests a wonderful opportunity to seek out hundreds of animal, bird and plant species. Nature lovers will enjoy the activities on offer; these are bush walks, birding walks, game drives, and canoeing to get a colder look at the riverine plant life. Those who just want to unwind are welcome to some fishing (on catch and release basis) and sunset cruises. Chikwenya is open between April and Mid November, some activities are seasonal.
